Construction Laborer

Location: Fort Dodge, IA  
Description:

This position will perform a broad array of material handling and physical construction duties, including cleaning equipment and work areas. Must be familiar with materials, tools and machinery used in the construction industry.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform demolition work, level earth, mix, pour and smooth concrete, prepare layouts, erect framework for structures, lay sub floor, apply ceiling and walls, weld, signal operators and other construction related tasks.
  • Clean equipment and work areas.
  • Adhere to the Company’s safety program.
  • Follow directions given by Superintendent.
  • Work on all aspects of the construction project.
  • Operate general construction equipment.
  • Perform work of a quality level consistent with the Company’s standards.
  • Complete miscellaneous jobs according to instructions given by Superintendent.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 months related construction experience and/or training preferred.
  • Must be reliable and a hard worker
  • Able to work well in a team environment

Senior Project Manager

Summary

This position is responsible for providing overall leadership direction to multiple projects teams. The Senior Project Manager will mentor and provide leadership to multiple project teams.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Review subcontracts, purchase orders, and approve payable statements.
  • Assist Superintendent in communicating safety requirements and project changes quickly and correctly.
  • Secure a smooth flow of material and equipment to the job site and keep costs in line with budgets.
  • Verify both Company employees and subcontractors are performing on time, according to contract requirements and producing quality work.
  • Minimize and complete punch lists and project closeout items as quickly as possible.
  • Verify all back charges, corrections to purchase orders, punch list items and closeout items are turned in before final payment release.
  • Assure projects are completed safety, on time and within budget.
  • Estimate possible projects and attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Exam site, access area, lay down area, trailer location, existing conditions and locations of utilities.
  • Estimate material quantities, labor, time requirements and equipment necessary to complete the job.
  • Determine amount of risk/fee the project will require and establish a bidding strategy to successfully compete against other contractors.
  • Follows guidelines of the Project Manager manual.
  • Mentor and manage team members, time management and developing client relationships on multiple projects
  • Foster strong teamwork orientation and be a resource for Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Superintendents
  • Provide proactive and intentional leadership in developing Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • High School diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, or related field preferred.  
  • 8+ years’ experience in the Construction Project Management.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs.
  • Proficient with Timberline Estimating and Project Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees through complex issues.
  • Must be able to contain confidential information.
  • Work well in a team environment.

Crane Operator

Summary

Responsible for operating mechanical boom and cable or tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines or products in many directions.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Operates cranes or other moving equipment to lift and move loads, such as machinery or bulk materials.

  • Understands and follows the operator’s guidelines of the specific crane in use.
  • Perform all daily and monthly inspections.
  • Inspects and adjusts crane mechanisms and accessory equipment to prevent malfunctions and wear.
  • Periodical maintenance as outlined in the crane’s manual, such as oil changes, check grease and fluid levels.
  • Washing and oiling concrete bucket.
  • Inspects cables and grappling devices for wear, and installs or replaces cables.
  • Directs helpers engaged in placing blocking and outrigging under crane when lifting loads.
  • Other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
