Iowa State University Stoker Boiler Replacement and Addition

The Stoker Boiler Facility is a two-story building with 18,000 sf of total floor space. The basement level is made up of cast-in-place concrete walls, structural steel, and slab-on-grade concrete floor. The first floor is slab-on-deck concrete with structural steel shell and precast walls. This 18,000 sf houses three gas-fired boilers that help to power ISU’s campus. Along with the building addition, new fuel oil storage tanks and concrete containment structures were built on the site. Woodruff Construction self-performed all concrete and certain structural steel erection using our cranes and custom formwork.
